I participated the university entrance exam (also known as “高考” Gaokao) in 2013 and ranked top 0.1% (6000/4800000 examinee) in Jiangsu Province, which ensured me to enter Nanjing Normal University (NJNU, 南京师范大学), a “211” university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.
Generally, universities in China can be divideded into 3 levels: “985-level”, “211-level” and normal ones, indicating top, good and common universities, respectively. Usually, if you want to enter 985-level/ 211-level universities, you need to rank at least top 0.1%/0.5% in your province in “高考”, which means you need to put all your effort and spend at least 12 hours in studying in your high school daily life. Just like Japan or Korea, China is another exam hell.
To me, memories of Nanjing and NENU are all about endless rain in wet seasons and beautiful seneries in the campus. By the way, NENU has one of the biggest campuses in Asia, which means you need to take the shuttle bus from this lecture to that one. Our library is another point I want to mention. It looks like a book if you view from the front. I spent about two hours per day in this building in the 4th year of undergraduate.

I learned some basic skills and knowledge about how to conduct a specific science research. My bachelor’s thesis is about extracting slope areas of River Tao basin in Gansu province using ArcGIS. I would like to send my special thanks to Prof. 白 世彪 (Bai Shibiao) who taught me a lot with great patience and kindness. After achieving my Bachelor’s degree of Science, I went to Changchun and started Master course, which was another story.
