I like Japanese anime! For this reason, I learned Japanese by myself and decided to go to Japan to continue my science research career since 2017, the year I graduated from undergraduate course. After graduating from master’s course in NENU, I applied for JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MEXT) SCHOLARSHIP (also known as “国費留学生”) which is a specific scholarship for foreigner students who want to study in Japan. Luckily, I was qualified because only 110 students can be selected among over 2000 (per year) candidates in China. Then I studied Japanese for one year (2020-2021) in Preparatory School for Chinese Students to Japan (留日预校,留日予備学校) and passed JLPT N1 test. In fact, I have passed N2 test before this Japanese course, which indicated that Interest is the best teacher.
In the last year of 2021, finally, I stepped on the ground of Hokkaido University, my dream university, and met the best supervisor in the world—Prof. Hirano Takashi (平野 高司). At the very beginning, I knew almost nothing about Prof. Hirano’s research fields. However, Hirano sensei helped me with great patience, encouragement and practical advice on concrete problems. After six-months’ struggling on coding, I understood how to know our research theme—soil carbon flux, and became skilled in data analysis using R and Python. Here I would like to appreciate Hirano sensei very much for his help and lead.
Hokkaido is a very famous tourist attractiion for its beautiful snow sceneries. Many tourists come here for delicious soup curry and beer, grand skiing resorts and, Hokkaido University. Yes, HU itself is a tourist attraction. We have Gingko Road, Doc.Clark’s statue and cute animals.
Anyway, three years in HU and Hokkaido will be my precious memory in the future. Once being a HUer, forever being an ambious boy.
